My Story

Hi, I’m Becky Nebenzahl, a Visual Communication student at the University of Technology Sydney.

Being part of the Re:act program has completely reshaped the way I think about road safety. I had a basic understanding of how design can drive change, but left with a much deeper insight into how it can influence everyday behaviour. Through research, workshops, and conversations, I saw just how powerful design can be, especially when it comes to something as routine and often overlooked as putting on a seatbelt.

One of the most exciting parts of the Re:act experience was getting to work on a real-world campaign, something that’s actually going out into the world and has the potential to make an impact. It was incredibly valuable to get live feedback throughout the process, not just from mentors and industry experts, but from real people who the campaign is designed to reach.

The experience made me more conscious of my own behaviours behind the wheel and more confident speaking up when others aren't wearing their seatbelt correctly. It showed me that creativity, when grounded in empathy and strategy, has the power to save lives.
